Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) on Long Island

In a pressurised chamber you breathe pure oxygen, which dissolves oxygen into the bloodstream at levels ordinary breathing cannot reach and drives it into tissue that circulation struggles to supply.

A Full Cellular Recharge, One Breath at a Time

What it is

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is like giving your body a full cellular recharge. Inside a pressurized chamber, you breathe 100% pure oxygen, flooding your bloodstream with levels far beyond what normal breathing can achieve. This oxygen-rich environment dramatically accelerates the body's natural healing processes, reduces inflammation at a systemic level, stimulates the growth of new blood vessels in damaged tissue, and supports recovery from injury, illness, and chronic conditions.

Why it matters

Oxygen is not just essential to life, it is the single most important driver of the body's ability to heal itself. When tissues are damaged, inflamed, or oxygen-deprived, the body's repair systems slow down and struggle to keep pace. HBOT changes that equation entirely. By saturating the bloodstream and tissues with pure oxygen at increased atmospheric pressure, it reaches areas of the body that normal circulation simply cannot access. This creates the ideal conditions for cellular repair, collagen synthesis, immune activation, and the growth of new blood vessels, effectively giving the body everything it needs to heal faster, more completely, and more efficiently than it ever could on its own.

Is this right for you

Who this is for, and who it isn't.

Worth a conversation if

  • Recovery from injury, surgery or sustained physical demand
  • Wounds or tissue that are healing slowly
  • Persistent inflammation you are managing rather than resolving
  • Fatigue and poor recovery despite adequate rest
  • You are using it alongside other regenerative treatment to support healing

Not the right fit if

  • Anyone with an untreated pneumothorax, which is an absolute contraindication rather than a caution.
  • Patients with certain lung conditions, recent ear surgery, or difficulty equalising ear pressure, without assessment first.
  • Anyone who is claustrophobic enough that time in a chamber would be genuinely distressing. It is worth saying so at consultation rather than discovering it on the day.

What to expect

From first call to settled plan.

  1. Assessment

Your history, lungs and ears are reviewed, because the contraindications for HBOT are specific and they matter more than they do for most treatments here.

  2. Preparation

You are shown how to equalise your ears during the pressure change, which is the part that takes practice, and told what to wear and what cannot go in the chamber.

  3. The session

You rest in the chamber while it is brought to pressure and you breathe oxygen. Most people read, listen to something or sleep. Pressure is changed gradually at both ends.

  4. A course, not a session

HBOT works cumulatively. The number of sessions is set for your situation at consultation, and it is a commitment worth understanding before you start.

How long it takes

The effect is cumulative rather than immediate, which is the single most important thing to understand before starting. Some patients notice energy or sleep changing early in a course, but the tissue-level effects that HBOT is used for build over a series of sessions. A single session is not a meaningful trial of the therapy.

How it's priced

Pricing is set at consultation rather than published as a flat rate, because the plan is built from your labs, your history and your goals rather than a menu. You will have the full cost in writing before anything is scheduled, and there is no obligation to proceed. Cherry financing is available and can be applied for in a few minutes.

Questions

HBOT, answered honestly.

What is HBOT actually approved for?

The FDA has cleared hyperbaric oxygen for a specific list of conditions, including decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, certain non-healing wounds and radiation tissue injury. Much of the wellness and recovery use it is known for sits outside that list and is considered off-label. That does not mean it is unreasonable, but you are entitled to know which category your use falls into, and it will be explained at consultation.

What does it feel like?

The main sensation is in your ears during the pressure change, similar to a plane taking off, which is why you are taught to equalise beforehand. At pressure it feels unremarkable. Most people find the sessions restful.

How many sessions will I need?

HBOT is a course rather than a one-off, and the number depends on what is being addressed. It is set out at consultation, and the honest framing is that committing to a single session is not a fair test of whether it helps you.

Is it safe?

It is well established and generally well tolerated when patients are screened properly. The risks relate to pressure, principally on the ears and sinuses, and to oxygen itself at high exposures. Screening is what manages both, and it is why the assessment is not a formality.

Can I use it while having other treatment?

It is often used alongside regenerative treatment specifically because improved oxygen delivery supports healing. Any interaction with your other treatment is reviewed by the physician as part of planning.

Is it covered by insurance?

Insurers generally cover HBOT for the approved indications when delivered in that setting. Wellness and recovery use is typically not covered. Cherry financing is available, and you will have the cost of a full course in writing before starting.
