Consultation and facial assessment
Your face at rest and in movement, what is actually bothering you, and whether the cause is muscle, volume, skin quality or laxity. Those need different treatments and the assessment is what separates them.
A plan you agree to
Which products, which areas and roughly what it will cost, before anything is drawn up. If the honest answer is that you need less than you came in asking for, you will be told.
Treatment
The appointment itself is short. Numbing is used for filler; most patients find neuromodulator injections quick and easily tolerated.
Review
A follow-up to assess the result once it has settled, and to adjust if needed. Reviewing before it has fully settled leads to overcorrection, which is why the timing matters.
How long it takes
Filler gives an immediate change, though swelling means the true result is not visible for a couple of weeks. Botox and Dysport are the opposite: nothing happens at first, movement softens over several days, and the full effect settles in around two weeks. Neuromodulator results last months and then fade gradually; filler longevity depends on the product and where it is placed.

Will I look frozen?
Not if it is dosed and placed properly. A frozen look comes from too much product in the wrong places, and it is a technique problem rather than an inevitable consequence of the treatment. If you are anxious about it, say so at consultation; starting conservatively and adding at the review is a completely reasonable approach and often the better one.
What is the difference between Botox and filler?
Botox and Dysport relax the muscle that creates a line when you move, so they treat lines caused by expression. Fillers add volume back to an area that has lost it. A line that is there when your face is completely still is usually a volume or skin-quality problem, not a muscle one, which is why the two are not interchangeable.
How long does it last?
Neuromodulators typically last months rather than weeks and then wear off gradually. Filler longevity varies considerably by product and by area, since areas that move a great deal break it down faster. You will be given the expected range for what you actually have.
Does it hurt?
Neuromodulator injections use a very fine needle and are usually described as brief stings. Filler is more involved, and numbing is used; many fillers also contain a local anaesthetic. Bruising is possible with either and is more likely with filler.
Can filler be reversed?
Hyaluronic acid fillers, which include Juvederm and Restylane, can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. That is a genuine safety advantage and one of the reasons they are so widely used. Not every filler type is reversible, so ask what you are being given.
I am in my twenties. Is it too early?
It depends on what you are treating. Using a small amount to stop a line becoming etched is a legitimate approach; treating a face that has no lines at all is not. You should expect a practice to tell you when the answer is to wait, and here you will.
Who will be injecting me?
This is a physician-led practice and it is a fair question to ask anywhere you go. Who is administering your treatment, and their training, is something you are entitled to know before you book rather than after you arrive.
